Prior approval

Important steps in the process

If you want to employ someone from a so-called third country, the Employment Agency will help you to check, under certain conditions, under which conditions your future employee can work in Germany. Which visas or residence permits are required? What requirements must be met and what time frames do you need to plan for?

Once all requirements have been checked and met, the Employment Agency can issue a preliminary approval for employment. This allows your future skilled worker to apply for a visa directly at the relevant foreign mission. Thanks to the advance approval, the visa procedure is usually much faster, as some procedural steps are omitted. In some cases, a work permit is sufficient for short-term, quota-based employment, without the need for a special visa.
